Each year we run a Journey in Faith' for people interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. Pictured here you can seem us looking at the Old Testament." We start every year in September and continue each week till Easter.
From left to right is Bob Charles, Rob Breeden and Brian Cox – a rare picture (not of them working) but Deacon Brian showing the two trainee Deacons a thing or two. As well as re-organising our resources building, with Advent beginning, they have been sorting out food for Christmas hampers.
Please note that there are two early morning Masses during Advent on Tuesdays (St John's) and Thursdays (Sacred Heart) at 7.00 am. The early morning Masses are an opportunity to prepare for the birth of Jesus in a reflective, mindful way, without the stresses that Christmas can bring.
The Christmas Fayre was a great success. So many people worked so hard for the good of the parish. Thank-you to all our volunteers and everyone who supported our fayre with donations, buying raffle tickets and coming along. Thank-you. On the day we made just over ÂŁ3,000. The raffle made another ÂŁ1600. We will also, hopefully, get ÂŁ1,000 match-funding and made ÂŁ1300 on the Vintage sale. In total nearly ÂŁ7,000. Well done.
A wonderful opportunity to light up the lives of people special to you, whether they are living or deceased. The living person may be ill in some way or may be just a special friend.
If you would like to remember someone special in this way please take an envelope marked 'Light up a Life' from the back of both Churches, write the names of your special person or persons on the Star or Stars provided and place the Stars, and if you wish a donation into the envelope.
Our first meeting for parents and children will be on Thursday Jan 29th at 7.00 pm – at Sacred Heart
"Light Up A Life" will begin in Advent on the weekend of Nov 30th. It is an opportunity to pray for someone by placing their names on a star. At the same time, your donation will help bring light into someone's life with much of the money raised going on hampers for people in need at Christmas.
