Jesus’ loved us so deeply that he lay down his life for us. We in turn lay down little parts of ourselves in small, unforgotten ways, in the many things were we give of ourselves, the hours spent with a sick child or parent, years caring for someone ill….. Through love and care we experience joy. Jesus’ commandment is to love and be loved. Even when the love costs us something.
Jesus calls us to be his friends. We are full partners with him in the redemption and reconciling the world to God. We are his partners… his ambassadors.
God is the true vine and our connectedness is to be part of this wonderful vine as we remain/abide in Christ. God has chosen us to for his divine purpose, namely for Joy, for expressing acts of love, to be his friends. May we, as friends and partners, rooted in Christ bear much fruit as we obey the command to love. Let us abide in Christ and bring forth the richest fruits of his blessing.
